The Legion Y is packed to the gills with features. Prices start at Rs. Intel has just made two separate 10th generation CPU announcements — Comet Lake and Ice Lake — and laptops based on these new chips will most likely hit store shelves in India at around the same time. That should be in a couple of months, and it is bound to cause a lot of confusion for buyers. While both these new lineups are for thin-and-light laptops, we can still expect to see 9th and 8th Gen branding on more powerful machines for a bit longer.
When it comes to gaming and high-performance laptops, the 9th generation announced in April this yearis still the latest and new laptops based on these CPUs are currently being launched. Should it be on the top of your shopping list? Let's find out. The Lenovo Legion Y has an understated design for a gaming laptop, which we really like.
This new model of the Legion Y looks identical to the ones already on sale in India, which were originally unveiled during CES this year. The Legion Y is a good looking and well-built gaming laptop. The all-aluminium chassis feels very durable and sturdy. The lid, especially, offers excellent protection for the display and we didn't see any pixel warping even after applying pressure on it. There are some plastic bits for the vents on the bottom, but everything feels well put together and premium.
This sounds like a lot, but the LEDs are placed in such a way that you see only a subtle glow from them and they aren't really in your face.
Just like the Legion Y which we tested last yearthe hinge for the lid is about an inch inset from the back of the body, leaving room for some backlit logos for the ports at the back. The dual hinges have good torsion and can easily support the lid at a variety of angles, including degrees backwards. The right side has a USB 3. There's no SD card slot, not even a microSD one, which is a little disappointing. You get a good selection of ports on the laptop, but it's crucially missing a card reader.
The It also has a matte finish so reflections aren't a problem. To watch HDR content, the laptop needs to be plugged into a power source and you'll need a compatible Web browser like Microsoft Edge or other software.
The system automatically bumps the brightness up to percent when HDR or Dolby Vision content is being played. Due to the narrow bezels, Lenovo has had to place the webcam below the display, which results in a very awkward perspective when video chatting.
The keyboard area is spacious, and since Lenovo hasn't tried cramming in a number pad, the spacing between keys is good.U paìse
The keyboard has been shifted a bit towards the right due to an extra column of shortcut keys, but we got used to this. The keys are flat but comfortable to type on, thanks to good travel, and are very silent.Due to high volumes, response times in the community may be delayed over the next few days.

Lenovo Vantage still says "The battery is in Good condition. Booted up the laptop. Disconnected the laptop from power source and left it alone. I ran full system scan using Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. I also used Windows Defender offline scan. None of them found any threats. Please help me identifying this "Unknown [None]" app. Or what is causing this battery drain? Did this solve your problem? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. Turned out Corsair icue keyboard RGB light customization software services were causing this drain.
I disabled the three services showing up in services. So, I bought the new lenovo legion Y 15IRH laptop and tried turning on the Hybrid mode in the Vantage suite but there is just no toggle for it! So, I updated the UEFI and the vantage software from the support page and installed them, but then a Dolby toggle appeared but no Hybrid option. Had the same problem, did not show up in vantage or the bios.
It somehow appeared in the vantage software after a few reboots, after enabling it i'm having problems with Hybrid Mode which I just made a post about. Screen goes blank whenever coming from sleep, windows turning screen off, screen just stays blank with backlight visible. Let me know if this happens to you as well, same symptoms. I have been dealing with this issue for about 3 months now.

Check out current deals! Go Shop. Top Kudoed Posts Subject kudos. It takes a few minutes of quiet reflection to realise just how far the Legion brand has come in the last couple of years. The Legion Y that followed enjoyed a much-deserved redesign and got a big Legion badge on its top cover.
As Lenovo India Executive Director Shailendra Katyal mentioned in a recent speechit's only in the last one year or so that Lenovo has begun to take the Legion brand much more seriously.
Anyone familiar with the Lenovo Legion Y from last year will be able to tell that this year's Legion Y is simply a refresh and not a complete redesign. The Lenovo Legion Y starts at Rs 76, Let's find out how it did in our review.
Let's dive right into performance. While the Lenovo Legion Y starts at Rs 76, the review unit we received was the top-of-the-line variant, which costs approximately Rs 1,27, according to the online configurator on Lenovo India's website. Users looking to expand storage get the option of adding a 2.
Everyday performance on the Legion Y review unit was admirable. Lenovo's newest gaming laptop handled multiple instances of common applications such as Google Chrome, OneNote, Word, Excel, File Explorer, Photos, and Microsoft Store across multiple virtual desktops without any signs of lag or stuttering.
Switching between slightly heavier applications such as Adobe Lightroom Classic and Epic Games Launcher happened smoothly without any problems. Simultaneous game downloads happened without any fuss too. On PCMark 8's Conventional Creative test, the review unit baggedwhich is well above the average we have seen in the past in the same category.
The Zephyrus M GU, on the other hand, scored and in the same two tests respectively. On the review unit, Doom ran on Ultra graphics settings the highest in any game, by our definition at an average frame rate of frames per second, a figure that is bordering on the maximum refresh rate of the Hz LCD panel.
The same game on High graphics settings the second highest in any game, by our definition ran at frames per second, meaning there was practically no difference between the two settings. The Metro Exodus benchmarking tool gave us an average score of 42 frames per second for Ultra and 52 frames per second for High.
Battlefield V ran on Ultra at an average frame rate of 83 frames per second but the rate jumped up by 10 frames on High. Apex Legends ran on Ultra at a respectable average frame rate of 98 frames per second and on High at frames per second. The benchmarking tool in Shadow of the Tomb Raider showed a score of 71 frames per second for Ultra and 80 frames per second for High.
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice managed an average frame rate of 72 frames per second on Ultra, which rose to a negligible 75 frames per second on High. Crysis 3 ran on Ultra at an average frame rate of 79 frames per second but displayed an average frame rate of frames per second on High, which is a considerable jump.
Gameplay, with or without ray tracing, was pleasant on the Legion Y review unit. I was able to play all the aforementioned games without coming across any visible signs of lag or stuttering. On games like Doom, the frame counter was practically locked at frames per second between cutscenes, which of course played at 60Hz. Heat and noise too were in check. While the underside and rear vents of the laptop got quite hot 49 degrees Celsius on average during gaming sessions, very little of it was felt around the WASD keys 38 degrees Celsius on average.
In a quiet conference room, the two fans could be heard when a game was running approx. The Legion Y comes with a According to Lenovo, the display can manage nits of brightness and reproduce 72 percent of the colours in the sRGB colour space.
In my experience, the display is crisp and colourful for web browsing, reading, and content consumption. To sum it up, you won't be disappointed by the Legion Y's display whether you're gaming or working. Sound from the Legion Y's two slanted front-firing speakers is surprisingly good.
The maximum volume is sufficient for watching a short video in a quiet bedroom but falls short in say, a noisy office cubicle. You're better off getting a good pair of gaming headphones or speakers for everyday content consumption. That said, vocals and highs from the two drivers are heard clearly while watching video game trailers. Surprisingly lows make it through too without sounding muffled. The Legion Y, like its predecessor, has ports on the sides and back.
On the left side, we see a USB-A 3.The latest wave of Lenovo Legion PCs equips gamers with advances such as cooler thermals, keyboard improvements and extended battery life. In competitive gaming, the way keyboards feel and their layout can make a huge difference. Another thing that can boost performance: advanced thermal efficiencies.La india novela
Lenovo Legion Coldfront 2. The advanced system now features Dual Burn support, which pushes the CPU and GPU to their in-game limits so that gamers can experience more predictable FPS frames per second without the need for thermal throttling.
Meanwhile, these Lenovo Legion devices stay cool to the touch despite sustaining top speeds, thanks to tactically placed heat sinks that dissipate more heat away from the motherboard.
Lenovo engineers worked with the team at NVIDIA to develop a more seamless, automatic way for gamers to better manage their integrated graphics through Advanced Optimuswhich debuts on select Lenovo Legion gaming PCs. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I've contacted them and waiting for their response but I highly doubt they'll be of any help.
I contacted Lenovo on this for my Yoga They said that the option for "Conservation Mode" is no longer available for W10 version Creator's edition. They recommended I run down the battery under Windows by playing videos.Huffman coding c++
Lenovo claims that battery life won't be affected with Conservation mode removed. So we requested Lenovo to send us a sample, and then we requested again, and requested again, and again and again, and this is what we got: the Y So my advice to you guys would be to always wait for one of these notebooks to go on sale.
By the way, both the Y and Y share the same design, the only difference are the updated specs on the Y I really wish they were front facing, but perhaps next time. When it comes to portability, I mean you really have to make sure you have the proper space to accommodate this huge adapter in your backpack so do keep that in mind. The keyboard on the Y is fantastic. The trackpad is good. So this is something that you really have to consider little more, this model does not offer any USB 3.
On the right hand side there is an extra USB 3. Unfortunately, it does not have an SD card reader or a Thunderbolt 3 port. I should mention that the Y comes with USB 3. The color reproduction is great, it has good balance of contrast and saturation.
I can comfortably color grade a video on this thing. I think this is a bit of an issue with most Windows notebooks out there. In terms of upgradability, when you crack open this notebook you have instant access to the memory storage and Wi-Fi card. The primary SSD unfortunately does not have the fastest write speeds.
Also do know that the included Hynix drive is mounted onto a metal bracket and if you want to upgrade it in the future you can simply uninstall it just like a traditional M. It would have been nice if Lenovo included and additional M. With regards to RAM, you have access to the two slots and the memory can be upgraded up to 32GB, which is nice. Now I do wanna mention something very important.
You see Lenovo pre-configured this notebook out of the box with the integrated Intel UHD graphics disabled. The battery capacity on the Y is around 57 watt-hours. On my light load test that consists of refreshing a Chrome webpage every 15 seconds, the Y lasted for about 7 hours.
On a heavy load test, while running Real Bench on loop, the system lasted for just a little over an hour.
